A small bump on or around the key # 5!


I believe everyone of us have used it a lot of times but I wonder how many of you have thought about this:

Ever wondered why many landline phones and even some cellphones (with physical numpads) have a small bump on or around the key # 5?

It's primarily to help visually impaired persons find the center of the keypad and work their way around it.

That bump can also be found on several other electronic devices like calculators and remote controls which isn't specifically for visual impaired people but for people to navigate the buttons in dark situations. The same goes for the phones as well.

2. Do you know random numbers appear during some of the TV shows Do you know about “Piracy checks” ? The picture shown has a blue rectangular tab with random numbers and alphabets on it. They appear during some of the TV shows. What is their significance? The answer will blow your mind!! “Piracy checks”- They act as an anti piracy measure. The numbers and alphabets are generated based on a random algorithm. Why is the keyboard layout Q-W-E-R-T-Y and not simply A-B-C-D-E-F? ​ It hasn’t been done randomly or just for fun, it has a very distinct and purposeful reason behind it. The current format of the keyboard was devised long back in 1870’s by a gentleman named Christopher Sholes. Though, it definitely was  not the first format to come up, it didn’t take much time to switch to  this one. Starting with lexicographic order i.e. A-B-C-D-E-F, after  various trials and errors and taking hundreds of cases, Christopher  Sholes gradually reached the Q-W-E-R-T-Y.
