For bikers/cyclists/runners/pedestrians:

Don't stop in a driver's blind spot.
This applies mainly to cyclists/bikers: the driver just can't see you if you're in his blind spot. If you're a parent, please teach this to your kids, before you let them ride on the road.

Trucks/Buses have even larger blind spots. If you're in the shaded regions below, they're not going to see you, even if you're decked out in green.

Wear bright/reflective clothing at night.
Again, this is something I only realized once I started driving. Don't assume that just because you see the car that's approaching you, the approaching driver has seen you too. The brighter and more reflective your clothing, the greater your chances are that he'll see you, and from much farther away too.

There is really no need to dress like a ninja if you're just going to grab dinner.

Always look both ways before crossing the street, even if you've got the green light.
I've tested this out in real life so trust me on it. Drivers are human too. MIstakes happen. Don't cross the road even if you've got the right of way without first checking that there are no oncoming cars.
Even if it's raining heavily and you're drenched...and you're running late for a meeting**.

**Unless you really want to get out of said meeting.

Don’t sleep while sitting beside driver seat in car!!
It makes driver feel sleepy.
This happened with one of my close friends’ brother. He was driving on the highway in night. His friend was sitting beside him on the front seat. The other guy felt sleepy amidst the journey and slept. Seeing the partner sleeping, he also felt sleepy.
Just when his eyes closed for a moment, he lost the sense of direction. The car steered to the opposite lane and got hit with a truck coming from opposite direction.
The other guy got small injuries and was out of danger however driver got seriously injured and could not be saved by the time he was taken to hospital.
A moment of carelessness gave life long sorrows to the family.
Take care while driving.
Pedestrian! while crossing the road at night, unlock your mobile screen and wave it at the coming vehicle.
This is just a small practice that I follow while crossing the road with low lighting or no street lights, so that the driver can see you easily.
